About me
Dr. Lily Luo is a scholar, organizer, and artist based in New York City and working at the University of Connecticut. She recently successfully defended her dissertation titled “Learning to Transform: The Revolutionary Legacies and Lineages of Grace Lee Boggs” at the University of Connecticut's Political Science department Using various feminist and decolonial methodologies, she explored Grace’s legacy through personal reflection, archival research, and conversations with contemporary Detroit activists committed to the visionary organizing that James and Grace Lee Boggs embodied. She has also published articles on Asian/American Political Theory, Chinese Political Thought, Techno-Orientalism, and Afro-Futurism in Theory & Event and Verge: Studies in Global Asias.
At the University of Connecticut, she has taught courses on community organizing, political theory in film, and visionary political imagination. She is also currently the staff organizer for her graduate union (GEU-UAW 6950) and a member of the bargaining committee. In the past, she has worked in Boston as a community organizer and facilitator, fighting for racial and economic justice with seniors and people of faith around Massachusetts.
