About me
Abhinaya Narayanan, MD, MPP is a family physician, abolitionist, reproductive justice advocate, and organizer with the People’s Care Collective based in Los Angeles, CA. She received her medical degree from UCLA, Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard, and completed residency training at UCSF. Prior to a career in medicine, Abhinaya was a community organizer, a formative experience that shaped her commitment to advancing health justice and collective liberation through direct care delivery, political education, and power building with social movements. She has spent the last several years working on campaigns to address the harms of carceral logics and practices in healthcare and dismantle prison and immigration detention infrastructure in her community. As a family physician in the public system, Abhinaya provides full-spectrum care across age and gender, including prenatal, abortion, and menopause care. She is rooted in a belief that healthcare workers committed to reproductive justice must fiercely defend patient autonomy, agency, and access to bodily knowledge in the clinical setting, resist a medical industrial complex steeped in the reproductive control of Black and Brown bodies, and directly engage with the structures of oppression that impede everyone’s right to live and parent in healthy and safe environments.
